“Nothing happens until someone sells something” (Henry Ford).
Businesses are built on sales. As the above quote states, nothing happens until your business starts selling its product.
You won’t have any growth in your business without salesmen. Sales is one of the best ways to build loyalty and trust with your customers. Excellent salespeople are those that not only make the sale but create a long-lasting impact on the customer. Sales is the main reason you will or won’t have recommendations, online reviews, repeat customers, or referrals. Not only does sales increase your customer base, but it also educates your customers on the why behind your company.
Inc.com went so far as to take a poll amongst 20 CEOs and ask them what skill was the most important for not only them but their businesses to succeed. Every single one of them replied with “sales”. Most people are shocked to hear this response, but that’s because sales has developed a stereotype. When we first think about sales, we think of someone manipulating, pressuring, and cajoling. But when we think of sales as someone sharing the logic, reasoning, and benefits behind a decision than we begin to realize just how important sales is to businesses.
Sales can take the route of cold calling or emailing, scheduling demos of the product, and the list could go on and on, but the most important thing to remember in sales is you’re dissecting and solving a problem. A problem that’s causing pain in the business. When you’re able to identify the problem and prove to the customer your product is the best solution to their problem, you become the bridge over the chasm of pain that was once thought impossible to solve.
Sales is to businesses like oxygen is to humans or water to fish or coffee to early mornings. In other words your business needs sales in order to grow and thrive.
Invest in your sales team.
Its the best investment you’ll ever make.
