Learning SEO Start To Finish in 30 Days: Final Project Recap

Updated: Jan 31

During the month of January, I committed to teaching myself the ins and outs of SEO. Following is a recap of the month, and what I accomplished.

Why I Started This Project

I am interested in marketing and freelance writing, both of those need to have at least a basic understanding of SEO in order to help any kind of website rank on Google. I wanted to learn how to boost both my personal site and any website or page that I would be working/writing for.

I also wanted to create some extra value for others by compiling all of my blog posts into an ebook.

What I Learned

I also took this month to learn some necessary technical skills for SEO including Google Analytics, SEMrush, Moz, Mailchimp, and Buzzstream.

I continued my commitment to blogging every day throughout this month, writing specifically on any SEO tips or tricks I was learning that day. I then took those blog posts and compiled them all into an ebook.

I then published that ebook on Payhip, Amazon, Google Books, iBooks, and Ejunkie. I am currently working on marketing this ebook through email campaigns and social media.

What I Accomplished

I continued my writing streak from the previous month to make it 60 days of writing and publishing every single day on both Medium and my personal website.

I completed a Content Marketing Course at Hubspot Academy.

I taught myself SEMrush and tested myself to prove I knew the concepts.

I built an ebook on Venngage and self-published it on numerous platforms.

I wrote SEO sample blog posts for a pet insurance company called Pumpkin.

You Can Too

Want to learn a skill or build on a skill that you already have? Well then dedicate some time each day or each week to learning that skill. All it takes is some determination, googling, scheduling, and hard work to teach yourself a skill that you wouldn’t have otherwise.
